We provide support and services to people:
-
who are living in the community (either with family or friends or alone) on the Sunshine Coast Queensland (Noosa, Maroochydore, Caloundra).
-
with early to mid stage dementia (and their family or volunteer carers) to help maintain quality of life for as long as possible.
-
with a diagnosis of dementia from a GP or Geriatrician. You do NOT need an ACAT (Aged Care Assessment Team) assessment.
PROGRAM OPTIONS
We have different options that are designed to benefit people at differing levels and with different needs. These options can be mixed and matched to create your individual program. The options include:
- 'Early Stage' Programs

People in the very early stages of the illness who wish to learn empowering techniques to help them maintain their lifestyle can join in small social groups on a regular weekly or fortnightly basis that will provide both a network of friends and an interesting activity.
Small (6 people) and large (up to 12 people) groups run daily for people who enjoy a Social Club atmosphere where they can mix with people in about the same agegroup and stage and they can enjoy activities that are suited to their needs and capacity. The aim is for fun, laughter and a feeling of self worth.
In Home Assistance
We provide trained workers to assist people who need help at home to do the day to day tasks like cleaning, shopping, showering etc
We provide a 'friend' to accompany you when going out in the community for social outings or appointments eg for coffee or a walk
- Carer Networking and Support
Specifically for Carers of people with dementia, these social events and sessions help you to understand the disease and give you 'time to relax' with other carers who know what you're experiencing.
You can select the program that is right for you (including a mix of these) and we try very hard to make sure your workers are the same ones for most services you receive and that they are people you will get on with (same interests and know your likes and dislikes).
This means that:
- We are able to personalise our support to suit your needs- anything from a couple of hours a week up to service 3-4 days p week is quite possible depending on your level of need at the time.
- We do NOT charge large fees as the government subsidises our program. It is $6 per hour for in home care and $12 per day for our Social Club (that includes meals with $3 extra for transport each way).
Note: You do not have to be in financial difficulty or rich to access the service- everyone with dementia welcome.
If you do have financial problems we will still be able to assist you (and negotiate an appropriate cost) so do not feel you cannot afford our service.
